Cape Town - South Africa

The last time I visited Zambia took over 3 days of travel. My brother and I took a flight from LAX to JFK, JFK to Heathrow, Heathrow to Ethiopia, Ethiopia to South Africa, and then South Africa to Zambia. This time around we had a short 4 hour flight from CA to ATL, then a 14 hour flight from ATL to Cape Town. I was asleep for most of the long flight which is seriously priceless.

I was in Cape Town with my business partner capturing video for Solana of an event they put on to bring business founders in the crypto ecosystem together to strengthen the community by providing a life changing, inspiring retreat - providing an opportunity for founders and CEOs to network with other like-minded founders on a similar journey of innovation - helping each other learn from their experiences, and gaining knowledge to fast track their own progress.

We built a strong asset library of interviews and documentary video footage of the project working alongside a seriously top tier level team from Solana.

During our time in Cape Town, we visited Table Mountain, Cape of Good Hope, saw wild beach Ostrich, Penguins, did some sketchy climbing, went on a safari, flew in helicopters, made friends with locals, ate South African food, and bartered for curios -happy birthday friends ;) -

Coincidentally - My parents were also in Cape Town on a retreat of their own, which if you realized how far Zambia is from Cape Town would understand that this is wild.

I was able to meet up with them and they skipped their work meeting (for the first time in their 25 year history) to meet up with me. I usually get to see them every 4 years, so it was heartwarming to spend some time with them as they sinned for the first time haha.

Here are some photos from my journey. I do video professionally for work, but I always have a camera on me to capture my daily life. It’s special to me, and I am going to make it a goal to share my images here.

I shot all these with a Fuji X pro 3 with a F2.0/ 23mm lens.

Enjoy!

POLAR PRO

We had the opportunity to work with Polar Pro, a company producing some of the best filters and camera accessories available. They asked us to go shoot some cool content for their brand while camping and exploring, aiming the production at content creators. Geared to the brim with every possible filter they have, we set out for an ambitious shoot in the beautiful Big Sur. I took on the photography while Marcus and Shorty spearheaded the video. Divide and conquer.

Oliver Peoples

I have always enjoyed working with models and capturing lifestyle images. I was asked to produce and shoot photo and video content showcasing some beautifully crafted sunglasses from Oliver Peoples. We shot all day from 7am to 7pm starting in downtown LA and ending at a location sourced through peerspace. All the images were shot with natural light either through a bounce or an 8X8 silk.

TINCUP - Mountain Whiskey photoshoot

I had the incredible chance to shoot for The Media Grind on a “TinCup” shoot in Colorado. The creative director and I explored around Denver and took these photos. I yanked these images from instagram.

RIUNITE - Sangria photoshoot

I was hired on as the photographer for some product shots for The Media Grind for one of their clients “Riunite”. The creative director and I worked to setup all the shots that he planned out and constructed in preproduction. More images yanked from instagram

MaxMan Inc. Photoshoot

I have a great ongoing work relationship with the mens suit company Maxman Inc. Every year they send out 2 unique catalogs that showcases their products and includes actual fabrics to show customers pattern and true colors. Here are some images that I shot ( with the help of an incredible team ) for their Spring/Summer 2020 catalog.

Devyn Adair

Some portraits shot with Devyn. She told me she was an aspiring singer, and today, that is exactly what she is doing. Congrats Devyn!

EXO ZEEN

The SteadyCam was created by Garret Brown who helped make cinema history with his invention. He made possible the iconic shots seen in “The Shining”, “Return of the Jedi”, and “Rocky”. He invented the action sports cam that you see above football players during games and the underwater camera that allows you to see olympic swimmers race underwater.

He also invented a new form of walker that lets you stand or sit at the push of a button. Me and my team at Dark Brothers Creative had the honor of meeting Garret and shooting content both photo and video for his company Exo Kinetics

Kolibri Spirit

I used to live on Catalina island for a brief period of my life. A friend of mine from the Island hired me to shoot some photos of her fashion line. She hand makes everything and was wonderful to work with.

Haley

Portrait session with Haley. Great attitude and awesome to work with.

Cat Meyer and Andrew Sealy

I was invited to shoot some photos for an exercise book, shooting some yoga on the beach.
